Welcome to Honde Valley

Eco Tourism

Honde Valley lies some 100 km northeast of the City of Mutare and Near the Eastern Border with Mozambique. It is situated within the Mutasa Rural District Council of Manicaland. The panoramic Honde Valley is saddled in what appears to be a crater and completely surrounded by a range of Mountains. The area boasts some of Manicaland Province’s most beautiful waterfalls and caves as well as historic rock paintings.

The Weather / Seasons

Although the climatic calendar consists essentially of a five month rainy season with the remaining months dry, a four season division is more realistic:

1. A cold dry season, May to mid-August;
2. A hot dry season, mid August to October;
3. A rainy season, November to March; and
4. A post rainy season, April.

The best time to visit Zimbabwe runs from mid May to August, in fact, it is the coolest and sunniest, and with almost no rain, even though it can get cold at night, especially above 1,500 meters (5,000 feet). Usually, by mid August, the temperature begins to rise, and cold nights become less likely. In September and October, the heat can be intense during the day, although nights remain cool at high altitude. The rainiest and muggiest period runs from December to February. This is the time best to view the majestic Mutarazi Falls and those interested in river rafting.
Zimbabwe enjoys pleasant temperate climate with 365 days of sunshine and 10 sunshine hours per day on average. Generally, casual comfortable clothing is suitable for Zimbabwe throughout the year. For your Zimbabwe Safari, pack light weight in neutral colours. Include a warm jacket in your suitcase for evening game drives.
